A Day on the Tools – Behind the Scenes at Feltus Electrical

Most people only see the finished product — the new oven working, the ceiling fan spinning, or the lights perfectly lit. But there’s a lot that goes on before and after we flick the switch.

Here’s a look behind the scenes at what a typical day looks like for me at Feltus Electrical — from quotes and trenching to tidy installs and follow-up calls.

☀️ The Morning Admin Block

Every day starts with planning. Between 6:00 and 9:00 AM, I’m:

  • Responding to emails and enquiries

  • Reviewing jobs from the day before

  • Submitting quotes and invoices via ServiceM8

  • Ordering materials from trusted suppliers

  • Calling customers to lock in job times

It’s the boring stuff most tradies hate, but I love getting ahead before I hit the road.

🔧 On-Site Jobs: From Trenching to Testing

By 10:00 AM, I’m usually on the first site for the day. Jobs can include:

  • Switchboard upgrades in older homes

  • Installing feature lighting or outdoor power points

  • Digging trenches for shed feeds (yes, I’ve got the proper gear!)

  • Mounting ceiling fans or pendant lights

  • Oven changeovers, smoke alarm upgrades, or fault finding

Everything gets documented in ServiceM8 — including before and after photos, compliance notes, and any recommendations.

💬 Communication Is Key

One thing that sets us apart? We communicate clearly from start to finish.

  • You get a message when I’m on my way

  • We confirm every job time by text or phone

  • If anything unexpected comes up, I send you photos and keep you in the loop

  • You receive a Certificate of Compliance where required

We’ve invested in good software to make your experience smoother — and it shows.

🧹 The Clean Finish

We always leave jobs clean:

  • Drop sheets or mats go down before we start

  • Offcuts and rubbish are bagged and removed

  • We wipe down the work area before packing up

  • Even the van stays clean — everything has its place

Because a clean job site says a lot about the kind of tradie you’ve hired.
